The award-winning actor was beloved by fans for his portrayal of Neil Winters, a role he'd played since 1991. The soap paid special tribute to St. John with a special episode featuring remembrances from his castmates and dear friends. -
CBS Veteran actor Morgan Woodward passed away on Feb. 22 at the age of 93. Having started his career with roles in television westerns, it was only natural he join the cast of primetime sudser DALLAS as Marvin "Punk" Anderson, a longtime friend of the Ewings. But daytime viewers will remember him as Phillip Colville, the father to Genie Francis' Diana Colville on DAYS in the late '80s. -
ABC Photo Archives/ABC via Getty Images Known to various generations as Fred Andrews on RIVERDALE or Dylan Walsh on BEVERLY HILLS: 90210, Luke Perry actually got his start in daytime playing Ned Bates on LOVING and then Kenny on ANOTHER WORLD. The beloved actor passed away on March 4 at the age of 52 following a serious stroke. -
D Guignebourg/jpistudios.com The daytime community mourned the loss of Jed Allan, who passed away on March 9 at the age of 84. Allan debuted as the troublemaking Ace Hubbard on LOVE OF LIFE in 1964, and from 1964-65, played Paul Britton on THE SECRET STORM. But he is best remembered by soap fans for playing Don Craig on DAYS from 1971-85 and C.C. Capwell on SANTA BARBARA from 1986-93. He even took over the role of GH's Edward Quartermaine for a couple of years in 2004. -
ABC via Getty Images Oscar-nominated actress Sylvia Miles passed on June 12 at the age of 94. Although best known for her work on the big screen, she also worked in television, including soaps like AMC, where she played Jenny Diamond in 1982. Her resume also lists a 1999 turn as Stella on OLTL. -
Walt Disney Television via Getty Images Photo Archives Best known for her starring role in the 1965 cult film Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, actress Susan Bernard passed away at the age of 71 on June 21 of an apparent heart attack. She also appeared in other films and television shows, including a 1968-69 stint on GH playing Beverly Cleveland Fairchild. -
John Paschal/jpistudios.com Prolific actor David Hedison died on July 18 at the age of 92. His career spanned film and television, including a couple stops in daytime as Spencer Harris on ANOTHER WORLD in the '90s as well as a stint as Katherine's ex, Arthur Hendricks, on Y&R in 2004. -

Marc Bryan-Brown/WireImage Emmy winning writer Hogan Sheffer died on Sept. 28 at the age of 61. His daytime career began with an award-winning run as headwriter of AS THE WORLD TURNS that started in 2000. In 2006, he moved to DAYS as its new headwriter, and in 2008, became co-headwriter of Y&R. -
Paul Archuleta/FilmMagic Diahann Carroll passed away on Oct. 4 at the age of 84 following a battle with breast cancer. Although she earned accolades for her groundbreaking work in film and television, soap fans will remember her best for her portrayal of the divalicious Dominique Deveraux on DYNASTY and its spinoff, THE COLBYS. -
Jesse Grant/JPI Original DAYS cast member John Clarke died on Oct. 16 at the age of 88 from complications due to pneumonia. The actor played Horton patriarch Mickey from the NBC soap's premiere in 1965 until his retirement in 2004, the same year he received the Daytime Emmys Lifetime Achievement Award. -
Steven Bergman Pamela Payton-Wright, who played beloved OLTL character Addie Cramer from 1991 until the soap's cancellation in 2012, passed away on Dec. 14 at the age of 78. She also played Hazel Parker on ANOTHER WORLD back in 1979.
