On AMC, Angela Hubbard was a doctor who was dedicated to achieving healing both in the hospital and within her own family. In her new role in Lifetime’s authorized biopic, Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart, Morgan will play Evelyn Braxton, a similarly strong woman who also plays an important role in the lives of her six children, including Toni.
“You all will quite enjoy this biopic,” Morgan said on Twitter. “It is quite enlightening!”
As a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, Toni Braxton dominated the airwaves in the 1990s but was also famous for her personal struggles, including chronic illness, financial distress, a difficult divorce, and her child’s diagnosis with autism.
The journey that the R&B icon undertook in an effort to overcome her troubles and reclaim her success is related in the movie, which stars Lex Scott Davis (THE EXES) and premieres Saturday, Jan. 23, at 8 p.m. EST (repeating on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 12 a.m. and 9 p.m. EST, and again on Monday, Jan. 25, at 1 a.m. EST). Also featured is Gavin Houston (THE HAVES AND THE HAVE NOTS; Remy; GUIDING LIGHT) as Braxton’s longtime musical collaborator, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.
Check out some photos of Morgan in the movie below, and be sure to tune in Saturday night! And for more from your favorite stars, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth Magazine!
