Let’s give a hand to the folks who created Ryan’s amputated extremity. That thing led to an awful lot of fun, from the mock funeral at which it was buried to the moment when Scotty accidentally yanked its prosthetic replacement off of the villain’s arm at the Nurses Ball!

Best Fake-Out

For just a moment there, we actually believed that Oscar had received the miracle cure which seemed to be his only hope. But by the time he told Joss, “It’s later than you think,” we knew we’d been played. And when his spirit crossed the room to kiss a sleeping Joss before walking off with Edward and Lila, we could do nothing but weep.

At long last, Laura ascended to the mayor’s office. Should she continue pursuing politics, we’d certainly be willing to work on the erstwhile Miss Star Eyes’ presidential campaign! Hey, stranger things have happened, and not just in Port Charles!

Cutest Couple

Some viewers were reluctant to fall for Willow and Chase, given that they were two newbies. But they seem to have won the audience over... which of course means the timing is right for the adorable pair to be hit by the kind of troubles that will test their relationship. But is the bigger threat her past with Shiloh, or the bond she’s forming with Chase’s best bud, Michael?

Cruelest Twist

At long last, Ava found what looked like true and lasting love! Of course, she couldn’t know that she’d fallen for her daughter’s killer. Then again, given her romantic history, maybe she should have been suspicious when good guy “Kevin” went from being her shrink to her sex therapist! (Here’s hoping Scotty helps heal her heart, ’cause we’ve already invested in #TeamScava T-shirts!)

Some viewers were surprised when Sonny didn’t seem thrilled by Carly’s latest pregnancy. But he had every reason to be concerned, given the realities of the situation, including their ages and the possibility that the child might inherit his bipolar disorder.

When the show tried to celebrate its 55th anniversary and mark the passing of longtime cast member Susan Brown (Gail) with a special episode, what emerged was a mixed bag. We got lots of history-filled talk, but the episode-ending flashbacks didn’t include beloved characters like Steve, Audrey, Jessie, Phil — or even Gail herself!

Yet somehow, the pair — each a bit humorless on their own — manage to bring out the lighter side of one another. As a result, their exchanges are often like something out of a classic screwball romcom.

Best Couple Who Haven’t Actually Coupled (Yet)

We’re not proud of this, but it’s true: Even before Oscar’s tragic demise, we found ourselves thinking Cameron and Joss made an adorable pair. Now that Oscar’s gone (RIP!), the only thing standing in their way is guilt and whatever teen traumas the fates throw their way.

The Travel Guide To Port Charles, ostensibly written by Lucy Coe, is a must-read for any GH fan. How else would you know that Port Charles hosts the 14th largest Oktoberfest in New York State, or that Lila Quartermaine’s grandmother, Lillian, invented a horse-powered can opener?

On the plus side, Franco and Liz finally became husband and wife. Unfortunately, their ceremony was hastily arranged and took place while he was behind bars! Thankfully, once his name was cleared, the couple was finally able to have the big reception they deserved... even if it also brought even more drama!
