Over the years on GENERAL HOSPITAL, Elizabeth Webber has gone through quite a roller coaster of ups and downs (and actress Rebecca Herbst has played them all brilliantly), so there is really no one more qualified to offer advice. She’s been through it all and come out the other side stronger, making decisions both good and bad along the way.
So if you’re feeling down and out or just out of sorts, check out the 10 maxims by which Liz lives her best life — and you can, too — in the gallery below!

Gh Liz No
Just because you don't go looking for fights doesn't mean you have to back down from them, either.
Despite her reputation as the nicest young woman in Port Charles, Liz isn’t afraid to throw down when need be. (Right, Sam? Carly?) And if there’s one thing that stings worse than one of Elizabeth’s barbs, it’s her slap!
Gh Jason Liz
Put your family first.
Sure, Liz has never informed on sometime lover Jason. But she did at least make the difficult decision to walk away from the hit man in order to ensure that their son wouldn’t wind up as collateral damage of his criminal career.
Gh Liz Ric Bed
Learn from your mistakes.
It remains to be seen whether Liz has actually taken this one to heart herself. Remember, it was only a few years ago that, even though she knew full well — having been married to Ric — that he was a dyed-in-the-wool schemer, she was ready to give Sonny’s conniving half brother another chance.
Gh Drew Sam Liz Franco
Stand by your man.
Even if your man — like Liz’s fiancé, Franco — used to have a brain tumor that turned him into a murderous psycho who thought nothing of making a woman (poor Sam) believe that he’d raped her, give him the benefit of the doubt.
Gh Liz John Doe Wedding
Honest is the best policy.
Trust Liz on this one, if nothing else. She’s learned the hard way that when you bend the truth — whether about your child’s paternity or the true identity of your fiancé — it’s only a matter of time before it snaps, catching you like a mouse in a trap.
Gh Nurses Meeting
"Knee-jerk" is not the best kind of reaction.
You know how people say it’s smart to think before you speak? It’s also smart to think before you act. That’s why, prior to going on strike with her fellow General Hospital nurses last year, level-headed Liz looked for an alternative solution. Only after weighing your options can you truly figure out which is the best one.
Gh Nikolas Liz Spencer Jake Aiden
Always use protection.
With three boys at home, we can’t imagine this fertile mom ever has unprotected sex anymore. In fact, having conceived Jake while using a defective ELQ condom, we wouldn’t be surprised if she makes Franco wear two!
Gh Liz Lucky
Make that "stand by your man — to a point."
If Franco ever started exhibiting homicidal tendencies again, Liz would have no choice but to send him packing the way she did Lucky when his addiction became more than just a danger to him but to their family. (In retrospect, giving Lucky the heave-ho might have been the best thing Liz ever did for her then-husband, since it inspired him to get sober.)
Gh Nikolas Hayden Liz
Snitches get stitches.
You’d think that a mother would draw a long, deep line in the sand when it comes to murder. But Liz has never been one to tattle, whether on babydaddy Jason, who’s made a name for himself as Port Charles’ most-often-hired gun, or Nikolas, whose attempt to assassinate Hayden she kept a secret because it helped her keep a secret of her own.
Gh Liz Franco Pinky Swear
There's no such thing as one true love.
For years, Liz was sure that Lucky was “theone.”And,foryears,hewas.Then she fell for Jason and Ric, Nikolas and Drew, and they were “the one,” too. Now it’s Franco who’s “the one.” And while we’d love to think that this relationship will stand the test of time, if it doesn’t, we, like Liz, know that she’s sure to love again.
