GENERAL HOSPITAL Star Maurice Benard Teases an Exciting New Role!

Maurice Benard (Sonny, GENERAL HOSPITAL) threw fans into a tizzy on Instagram when he shared a selfie and teased a brand new project!

“Hi, my name is Detective Alvarez,” he wrote. “Can I see your driver’s license, please?”

While Benard is remaining mum so far on any details regarding this new role, he’s listed as playing a cop in the cast of a new TV series called SOUTH SIDE, which also stars Method Man, Mike Epps, and ICE-T, among others. Set in Jamaica, Queens in the ‘80s, the series tells the story of true events surrounding the rise of the drug culture in the area.

If the cop Benard is playing is in fact the Detective Alvarez he mentions in his Instagram post, hopefully he’ll have more to say about the role and the series very soon! After watching Sonny battle with the law on GH for so many years, it’ll be fun to see Benard as the one with the badge for a change!

We also expect to see some selfies with his co-stars from this series, because Benard is quite the shutterbug, as you can see from the fun GH gallery below!
