We’ve gotten so used to watching our favorite soaps stars that it’s hard to imagine other people playing their roles. For instance, what if Julia Roberts was Stacy Edwards in ALL MY CHILDREN? It might be hard to imagine but major movie stars came pretty close to landing roles in daytime TV.

Mila Kunis auditioned for a role in SUNSET BEACH.
She auditioned for this series and for That '70s Show at the same time and landed both roles, but her manager made her go with That 70s Show.
"I went on the audition and I wanted this other show called Sunset Beach. I wanted that one because it had cute guys in it, and instead my manager was like 'no', you're gonna get '70s," she said.
Julia Roberts auditioned for the roles of Linda Warner and Stacy Edwards on AMC.
Way before she reached superstardom, a younger Julia got rejected twice after auditioning for AMC.
Kevin Costner auditioned for the role of Jake Kositchek on DAYS.
He unfortunately lost the role to Jack Coleman.
Julianna Margulies auditioned for the role of Dr. Maria Santos on AMC.
She didn't get the Daytime role, but she went on to land other shows and major films.
Eva Longoria auditioned for the role of Hannah Scott on GH.
Though she did land a guest appearance on GH and a regular role on Y&R, she originally wanted to portray a main character on GH.
Brandon James Routh
Brandon James Routh auditioned for the role of Al Holden in OLTL.
Though he did land a role as Seth Anderson on the show, he was let go after just 11 months.
Nolan North auditioned for the role of Steven Lars Webber on GH.
Though he was rejected for this role, he did get cast in the GH spin-off series PORT CHARLES as Dr. Chris Ramsey.
