The daytime community was shaken by the news that Ben Jorgensen had died at the age of 51. The actor made his daytime debut playing gay teen Kevin Sheffield on ALL MY CHILDREN from 1995-98 and went on to play AS THE WORLD TURNS’ Chris Hughes in 1999. Some of his former castmates spoke to Soaps In Depth about the passing of their friend and how they hope he is finally at peace.

Jaime Nicole Dudney (Georgia, ATWT)
"Yesterday was hard... learning the news that my friend had taken his own life. Ben Jörgensen was truly an enigma. He checked boxes I didn't know existed. His mind was brilliant, yet tortured. I tried to help him but I knew all I could do was love him. We met on the soap. He was to play my love interest. We ended up dating (in real life) for 3 years. Many journeys together and so much laughter. In the end, his mind was too much for me to keep up with and I had to separate. This last decade was blessed with many phone calls, lots of messages, and tons of texts. I will miss them. I miss him. One of the last conversations we had was about God's love and Jesus's example he set for us. Ben was into it and believed in the power of love and God. His heart was pure. His mind was rattled. I pray he is now basking in eternal love and peace. I believe he is.
I love you Ben Jörgensen. I always will. See you soon my friend."
T.C. Warner (Kelsey, AMC)
"His spontaneity and ability to improvise was always charming. I could always rely on Ben to be the creative element in any situation. The amount of drive he had was contagious and will always be remembered. ❤️"
Terri Conn (Katie, ATWT)
"Ben was such a beautiful soul! When I think of him, I immediately think 'artist.' My first year on ATWT with Jaime, Ben, and Nathaniel [Marston, Eddie] was one I will always cherish. My heart breaks for Ben’s mom and those close to him. I will be praying for peace for all of you."
Darlene Dahl Tejeiro (Anita, AMC)
"I’m devastated over the loss of Ben Jorgensen who played Kevin Sheffield on AMC. I was thinking about him last week and was going to call him when suddenly I received the tragic news. Please reach out to people during these difficult times. Do not let disagreements, misunderstandings, or grudges get in the way of a friendship. Life is short and fragile. I wish I was there for you sweet Ben! I’m so sorry."
