Go Backstage at THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Society

Society on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS is Genoa City’s newest it place, and here’s your chance to go behind the scenes in a special video featuring cast members Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman), Sasha Calle (Lola Rosales), and Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) along with Y&R production designer David Hoffman. “This is an exciting new place,” James said. “A place for everybody to hang out here in Genoa City. We wanted to create a location where people feel comfortable any time of the day and night. And at night, it turns into a club.”

After everything that’s happened to poor Abby, co-owning the resto with Devon will definitely perk that gal up. “There’s so much going on with Abby Newman. She went through a bad breakup,” stated Ordway. “She just had her heart broken. Her wedding didn’t happen. But now, she has focused all of her energy on Society…Society is so cool because it’s hip, it’s fresh, it’s trendy. Everyone loves Crimson Lights. Everyone loves the GCAC, but this is something a little bit different, so I’m excited.“

The restaurant’s set is huge. It contains a casual eating area as well as a posh, plush fine dining section. “We’re very excited about it, as we usually don’t don’t get to do something this grand, that will have as much use on the show in terms that it will have many storylines that will overlap in it.” Hoffman said. “One of the producers said to me that the important thing was that since it’s owned by Abby and Devon, that it would have to be a place that Abby would think it was cool and want to hang out in.” And Ordway is really excited about the place too! “This looks like a place that Abby would hang out, or Kyle would hang out, or Summer would hang out, and I think that it’s different and it’s modern,” she enthused. “l think it’s cool.”

The place is so big that, according to Hoffman, “It’s a set that gives you the opportunity to have one group of people doing one thing, and to have another [group of] people walk in and it’s perfectly logical to have storylines overlap.” And the head chef’s portrayer agrees with him. “There’s so many things that could happen whether it’s like trouble at work, or trouble with work” Calle declared. “And I also get to play with Abby as we’re part of the restaurant and the creation of the restaurant. I think it’s always fun when all of the characters can come together and work together.”

It’s as if Society is the newest cast member of Y&R! Could it play cupid? “I’m hoping that the set will have lots of opportunities for our couples to have romantic rendezvous in a very fun, welcoming atmosphere” Hoffman teased with a grin.
