Stars Pay Tribute to the Late Betty White
It’s been days since Hollywood legend Betty White passed away peacefully in her sleep, less than three weeks shy of what would have been her milestone 100th birthday. To television viewers all over the world, the funny lady was known for her memorable roles as happy homemaker Sue Ann Nivens on THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, naive Rose Nylund on THE GOLDEN GIRLS, and salty Elka Ostroivsky on HOT IN CLEVELAND. But to fans of THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, White will forever be remembered for her turn as Stephanie and Pam’s very own Mommie Dearest, the cantankerous Ann Douglas.
The comedy legend made her B&B debut as a guest star in 2006, playing Ann for a dramatic story arc in which Stephanie finally confronted her mother about denying the years of abuse she and her sister suffered at the hands of their father. The actress continued to sporadically recur on the soap until the character was killed off in 2009 when Ann succumbed to pancreatic cancer.
Whether she worked with them for days or just shared a fleeting hello, the first lady of television left a lasting impact on everyone with whom she crossed paths.
