Alderson Speaks Out!

Tags:

Fans of ONE LIFE TO LIVE who tuned in to see Starr, Cole and their young daughter, Hope, make their GENERAL HOSPITAL debut received quite a shock when father and daughter died when their car exploded after falling off an embankment. While Kristen Alderson (Starr) was joined by Van Hughes (Cole) and triplets Tess, Madeline and Molly Sullivan (Hope) for two episodes, only Alderson will remain on in Port Charles. To appease fans who are outraged by the deaths of Cole and Hope, Alderson has taken to her Twitter feed to share her feelings on the subject. “Sole fans — Trust me, I LOVE & will miss Starr & Cole. But don’t blame [headwriter Ron Carlivati]. Not his fault that both of our Cole actors r unavailable,” the actress writes, referring to Hughes and his predecessor, Brandon Buddy. (As Soaps In Depth previously reported, Hughes is currently performing in the touring company of American Idiot, and flew to GH’s Los Angeles set on a day off to tape his scenes.)

But Alderson promises that the heartbreak will open up storyline possibilities for her alter ego. “I know this is a tragic storyline, but it’s VERY well written. There’re great obstacles & triumphs ahead for Starr to encounter. Thank you for being constantly supportive. I just wanted to help ease the pain by telling you “business” wise why Cole isn’t… well alive.”
