Spend a little time on Jamie Luner‘s social media and you’ll see pretty quickly that ALL MY CHILDREN‘s former Liza Colby is all about positivity and exploring new things. “I’m in one of the most beautiful places right now,” she shared with Soaps In Depth, adding that she’s feeling creatively inspired, empowered and centered. “I’ve gone through so much in life that now I feel this sense of, ‘Oh, got it.’ I’ve got all these tools to make amazing choices.”
Recently, the actress took on a surprising role for which she might be long remembered: larger-than-life, evil elf queen La Befana in My Adventures With Santa. “I hadn’t done a Christmas movie” before, she explained, “and I hadn’t really done anything that was [geared toward] kids.”
The film stars Patrick Muldoon (ex-Austin, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) and Denise Richards (Shauna, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) as a struggling couple whose children are determined to see them have a happy holiday. But when a little magic lands them at the North Pole, they find themselves in the midst of an elf war in which La Befana’s magic increases as Christmas spirit declines. “I had a few months to really create this character, and boy, did I have fun!” Luner enthused. “She’s trying to steal Christmas [because] she’s been unhappy since being excluded by the elves who liked Santa better.” Not only is Luner amazingly costumed for the movie, which is now on sale, but she also puts on a performance that you’ve gotta see to believe.
The actress, who is oft remembered for her portrayal of MELROSE PLACE’s sexy Lexi and SAVANNAH’s Peyton in the 1990s, is still looking to add to her legacy. In an upcoming romantic comedy, currently titled Christmas In The Key Of Hark, she stars opposite GUIDING LIGHT’s Johnny Messner (Rob) and also produces and sings! “I wrote a song for the movie and also got to perform and record it,” she said proudly. “Singing is something that I’ve always loved to do but haven’t shared a lot of.”
Next, Luner returns to her soap roots in yA, the spin-off of Amazon’s THE BAY THE SERIES, in which she portrays a teen’s mom who is “not in the happiest place in her life. But,” she said, “what’s beautiful is that I know what that’s like, and if I can bring inspiration and help somebody by playing characters who are going through a lot of pain, then that’s what I’m here to do.”
