B&B Star Checks In To GH!

Daytime vet Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) confirms to Soaps In Depth that he’ll be appearing on at least one upcoming episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL (like, maybe today)! He’s keeping mum on exactly who he’ll be playing and what he’ll be doing in Port Charles, but the actor/musician (Moss is a member of the band Player) will be airing during the Nurses Ball so there’s speculation that he’ll be not just acting on the show, but singing, too!

How’d it all come about? “[GH’s headwriter] Ron Carlivati came up with the concept,” Moss reveals to In Depth. “He ran it by Frank [Valentini, executive producer]. Everybody loved it!”

The former CBS Daytime star admits that an offer from a rival network surprised him, but adds, “It shows me how savvy the guys are who are running [GH]. I think it’s going to be a good payoff for them.”

Moss and his new pals at ABC agreed to keep the casting coup under wraps for as long as possible. “We all chose collectively to keep it a secret,” he says. “That was kind of the point of it.”

It’s a bit serendipitous that Moss has landed back at ABC. The actor started out his acting career there in a talent development program prior to landing on B&B. “It was myself, Robin Wright (Kelly, SANTA BARBARA), Arsenio Hall, Emmanuel Lewis (WEBSTER), Emma Samms (ex-Holly, GH), and Gordon Thomson (Mason, SB). We all started out together and then went our separate ways.”

Moss didn’t feel like a stranger in Port Charles. While he says Michelle Stafford (Nina, GH; ex-Phyllis, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) hadn’t started there yet when he shot his scenes, he did see on set many of his former B&B co-stars. “I saw Ian Buchanan (Duke; ex-James, B&B), William deVry (Julian; ex-Storm, B&B), Rick Hearst (Ric; ex-Whip, B&B) and other people I’ve known for years like Anthony Geary (Luke) and Finola Hughes (Anna).”

Although GH is only a brief appearance, Moss wants his fans to know that he loves being a part of the soap opera world and has no ill will towards the genre. “To blatantly say ‘I would never go back to daytime’ would be a slap,” he declares. “I never said that. But people will read into things what they want to.”
