Bradford Anderson’s Emmy Excitement!

Tags:

Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, GENERAL HOSPITAL) woke up this morning to news that he had been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Well, technically, baby daughter Juna woke him and wife Kiera a little after seven, at which point he discovered text messages on his phone from former castmate Steve Burton (ex-Jason, now Dylan, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) and Emmy winner Christian LeBlanc (Michael, Y&R)!

“We looked at the monitor to se if maybe Juna would go back to sleep,”Anderson laughs. “I put the phone in front of [Kiera’s] face and showed her the texts. So my first congratulations in person was from my wife because we were still in bed!”

Anderson reveals that the episode he submitted that earned him the nod was one from last summer when he had a confrontation with Jen Lilley‘s Maxie at Kelly’s. “He gives her a speech about friendship,” he says. “Sometimes it’s hard when picking Emmy shows because my character isn’t the kind of character that gets the knock down, drag out material. I’m not Lucky Spencer.

“I don’t get that stuff very often,” he continues, “so sometimes in picking a show, I have to look outside the box a little bit. Sometimes you have to look for an episode that has a beginning, middle and end. This episode did. And I guess it worked out!”

And whether he wins or loses on Emmy night, there’s one thing the actor is definitely looking forward to that evening. “One of the things I’m very excited about this year is that it’s a sure-fire way of seeing Julie Berman (ex-Lulu) again,” Anderson confides. “I don’t see her as much. I’m excited that she’s nominated and I’m excited that I will for sure see my friend again!”
