Daytime Emmys 2018: Watch the Outstanding Younger Actor Nominee Reels

Tags:

It’s nearly time for the 2018 Daytime Emmy Awards, but before the big ceremony on Sunday, April 29, fans love to debate which of the nominated actors will take home the trophy that night. Votes are cast based on the reels that the stars submitted, so choosing the right scenes is important for securing the nomination and hopefully, the win! Actors were able to submit up to four episodes, 20 minutes maximum each, for the final round of voting.

Now, you have a chance to see exactly what the judges see in these official reels submitted for the Outstanding Younger Actor category by Casey Moss (JJ, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), Hudson West (Jake, GENERAL HOSPITAL), Lucas Adams (Tripp, DAYS), Rome Flynn (Zende, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL), and Tristan Lake Leabu (Reed, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS).

Casey Moss (JJ, DAYS)

With JJ’s descent into depression, Moss had lots of great material for his Emmy reel. It begins with JJ recounting the incident where he shot Theo to Hope, followed by a scene where he visits the scene of the crime and breaks down in Jennifer’s arms. It concludes with JJ planning to take his own life while his family celebrates Christmas only to be stopped by Gabi’s intervention.

Hudson West (Jake, GH)

West’s clips begin with Jake struggling to process the news that Drew isn’t his father but his uncle. The next scene is a cute father/son scene with Jake and Drew that takes a shocking turn, followed by Jake making an emotional confession about his time on Cassadine Island, and finally a therapy session with Andre.

Lucas Adams (Tripp, DAYS)

The opening to Adams’ reel has him standing up to Kate, followed by a family lunch where Tripp opens up about how he’ll never know his mother because she’s dead. Next, Tripp breaks down in tears as Kayla tries to comfort him, and then we see him confess to Jade his plan to destroy Kayla for killing his mom. The reel ends with another side of Tripp as he angrily confronts Kayla and comforts Claire.

Rome Flynn (Zende, B&B)

Flynn’s Emmy reel stars with Zende urging Nicole to sign the adoption papers and continues with his confronting Julius about manipulating his daughter before ending with the emotional Avant family discussion where he comforts Nicole and promises to stand by her no matter what.

Tristan Lake Leabu (Reed, Y&R)

Leabu kicks off his reel with Reed’s reunion with his grandmother, Nikki, followed by his being scolded by Victoria and J.T. for driving drunk and then Nikki warning the teen about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Now that you’ve reviewed all of the Outstanding Younger Actor Daytime Emmy reel submissions, you know exactly how difficult it is for the Blue Ribbon Panel to make their final decision and select one of these talented young men as the winner!
