Daytime Emmy Awards to Offer Backstage Access on Periscope
Fans were upset when it was announced that the Daytime Emmy Awards would not be broadcast on television, but the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences are still exploring other ways to bring the ceremony to viewers.
The Wrap is reporting that NATAS is teaming with the live-streaming channel, Parachute TV, to bring red carpet coverage to fans as well as backstage access. After winners exit the stage, they will interact with fans directly via the Periscope app.
“Awards shows are doing an incredible job with live-streaming apps like Periscope and Facebook Live,” said Parachute TV co-founder Caroline Lesley, who will also co-host the event on Periscope. “And giving fans a chance to interact with their favorite celebrities backstage is another great step forward.”
The Daytime Emmy Awards are being held Sunday, May 1, with the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Friday, April 29. Parachute TV will be providing red carpet coverage and backstage access for both ceremonies.
