Soap fans were thrilled when The National Academy of Arts and Sciences announced that they would be able to watch the 2017 Daytime Emmy Awards live on Facebook and Twitter, but some wondered about a red carpet pre-show. Well, now they have revealed that GENERAL HOSPITAL star Carolyn Hennesy (Diane) will be handling the red carpet hosting duties!
Hennesy will be hosting the red carpet show for both the Creative Arts Emmys on Friday, April 28, and the main ceremony on Sunday, April 30, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. ET on both days. In addition, she will also be hosting two additional Facebook Live appearances from the NATAS Emmy Gifting Suites for the nominees on Saturday, April 29 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET.
“I am absolutely thrilled and so honored to be tapped to host Facebook Live’s red carpet coverage for the Daytime Emmy weekend,” Hennesey said in a statement. “The glitz, the gowns, the stress, the nerves, the gossip… ‘She said what? I’ll bring you just as much as they let me… and then some!”
Hennesy is best known for her role as attorney Diane Miller on GH, but was most recently seen as Toni in the Netflix revival of GILMORE GIRLS: A YEAR IN THE LIFE, and has also been featured in TRUE BLOOD, REVENGE, and COUGAR TOWN. She just wrapped production on the female-driven horror film St. Agatha.
In 2010, Hennesy was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work on GH, and this year is up for Outstanding Supporting or Guest Actress in a Digital Daytime Drama Series for her role as Karen Blackwell on THE BAY. She already won the Indie Series Award for Best Guest Actress-Drama for her performance on the digital drama series.
So be sure to tune in early to watch Hennesy work the red carpet and chat with all your favorite stars before the shows, and don’t forget that you’ll be able to ask your own questions for her to relay to the celebs via the Daytime Emmys official Facebook and Twitter pages!
