GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Chad Duell Thinks Michael Will Be a Good Dad… Eventually! (EXCLUSIVE)
When Michael turned the tables on professional schemer Nelle, GENERAL HOSPITAL fans weren’t the only ones cheering — portrayer Chad Duell was also thrilled by the turn of events. “He finally fought back,” the actor told Soaps In Depth with a smile. “It was nice to grow a spine and give Nelle back what she’d been giving. I was glad they finally wrote that.”
Unfortunately, that particular storyline climaxed with Nelle claiming their son had been stillborn when she actually passed it off to Brad so he and Lucas could raise it together, replacing their adopted son who had unexpectedly died in his crib. “It’s pretty messed up,”Duell admitted. “Brad just really wanted a kid and probably doesn’t want to go through the adoption process again. But you’ve got to be pretty heartless to see Michael and empathize with his sorrow when you have his kid!”

Worse still, Nelle isn’t quite done tormenting her babydaddy, leading him to question exactly what’s going on. “Nelle wrote Michael a letter from prison,” Duell marveled. “She said things about Brad’s baby that made him think, ‘What the hell does that even mean?’ She’s pretty messed up.” And while Nelle may not be done with Michael, Duell insists that his alter ego has definitely put her behind him. “She can’t do anything to him or influence his psyche anymore,” he declared. “He’s walled off to her… but he does have empathy for the kid they lost together. He can’t just discredit her feelings about the situation because she lost the kid, too — even though she’s crazy!”
The truth always comes out, so it’s going to be just a matter of time before Michael is finally reunited with his son despite Nelle’s best efforts. And when that day comes, Duell can’t wait to play yet another aspect of his character. “Michael has a great heart and is very loving, so being a father would be great for him,” he muses. “So they can play this out for a long time… but ultimately, he’d be a good dad, for sure!”
