General Hospital's Chloe Lanier Previews Big Storyline for Nelle!

Since her introduction on GENERAL HOSPITAL, Nelle has proven to be a polarizing character for fans of the soap. So when her portrayer, Chloe Lanier, took to Twitter for a live chat with viewers during a recent episode, one urged her to “ignore the haters. For every hater, there’s a fan.” And Lanier happily responded: “Thank you. Trust me, I will. #shakeitoff”

The actress admits that playing Nelle has really helped her grow as a performer, especially because the role is on a daytime drama, not a primetime series or in a film. “The amount of dialogue we have to memorize alone has helped me tremendously,” Lanier declared. “It’s like boot camp. The amount of work we do in such a compact amount of time forces you to trust your instincts one hundred percent.”

And while Lanier has never donated a kidney, pretended to sleep with her sister’s husband and dated her son, she admits that there are always going to be some similarities between an actor and the character they play. “We’re both not afraid to stand up for ourselves,” she confided.

Lanier loves that Nelle and Michael have been paired on the soap because she adores working with his portrayer, Chad Duell. “He’s a goofball and I’m a goofball,” she confessed. “So we get along splendidly.” She is also grateful for all the lessons that she has learned from daytime vets Laura Wright (Carly) and Maurice Benard (Sonny). “Everything Laura has taught me is gold,” the young star declared. “I treasure this woman. And Maurice is hilarious. Super laid-back. He’s a movie buff like I am, so we hit it off.”

With Steve Burton (ex-Jason) returning to GH, she’s hoping she gets a chance to work with him, whatever character he ends up playing, but honestly appreciates every single member of the soap’s cast. “Everyone brings something new and exciting to the table,” she mused. “I love all the different energies.”

As for what’s next for Nelle, Lanier wouldn’t reveal too much but guaranteed a “very, very big” storyline coming up for her. As to whether that will reveal more about Nelle’s background — including why she seemed to know an awful lot about bullet shells — the actress teased that she knew some secrets, but wasn’t telling… at least not yet! “All will be revealed in the coming months!” she promised.
