As the villainous Faith Rosco on GENERAL HOSPITAL, actress Cynthia Preston earned plenty of fans, who may want to check her out in the very different role of concerned mother on the supernatural hospital drama SAVING HOPE, airing Tuesday, July 11, at 11 p.m. ET on Ion Television!
Preston plays Lindsay Rush, who worries about her teenage son’s sudden onset of behavioral and anger management issues, and seeks the help of Dr. Alex Reid, played by series star Erica Durance. “I don’t know what to say about my concerns because I don’t want to give things away about the episode,” the actress teases to Soaps In Depth. “What I’m concerned about isn’t what’s actually going on. That might already be saying too much!”
But Preston had nothing but good things to say about Owen Maggs, the young actor playing her son, Hunter. “I come from a family of redheads,” she revealed, “and so different people in my family when they saw the pictures, said he looks like a Preston!”
Since leaving GH, Preston has appeared in films like Carrie and Locked Away as well as in primetime TV shows like TWO AND A HALF MEN, BONES, and HANNIBAL. “Primetime and features, they’re all just different depths,” she mused. “I’ve been doing this a long time. In the old days, movies were thought to be better than TV because in a one hour drama, you had to introduce the characters, tell them what the problem is, and everything comes to a conclusion within the one hour.
“Movies were better because you could spend two hours getting into the story,” Preston continued. “So it was richer. But now they do everything serialized, so they have six, 10, or 16 episodes. So television is better than features very often now. It’s all about the depth that you can go into.”
Watch Preston show off her impressive acting chops in the episode of SAVING HOPE titled “Problem Child,” airing on Ion Television!
