Offered a small guest role on the upcoming Amazon crime drama TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG, Donnell Turner (Curtis, GENERAL HOSPITAL) jumped at the opportunity. “It was maybe three lines, but I decided to do it for the exercise and to stay relevant to the casting directors,” he confided to Soaps In Depth. “And I figured it’d be cool to have Amazon on my resume!”
While appearing on GH, Turner has made guest appearances on primetime shows like JANE THE VIRGIN and films like The Choir Director. TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG stars Miles Teller and Billy Baldwin and centers around a grieving police officer who, along with the man who shot his partner, finds himself in an underworld full of hit men, Yakuza, assassins, Russian mafia, and teen killers However, after going in for a wardrobe fitting for this new role, the actor never got the call to come to set on the scheduled shoot date. “I got paid for the fitting and the day,” Turner explained, “but it’s not about the money. It’s about the exposure!”
While it had seemed as though the role had disappeared, a few months later, it resurfaced out of the blue. And the producers weren’t just calling to see if he was still interested in the part, they also revealed that they’d beefed up the role! “They came back at me with eight pages,” Turner revealed with a smile.
However, fans of heroic Port Charles sleuth Curtis Ashford may be in for a surprise when they tune in to watch his portrayer in TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG. This character does something really awful, but Turner’s not giving anything away. “To find out what, you’ll have to wait until the series premieres next year,” he teased. “I can’t wait!”
