GENERAL HOSPITAL Hunk Josh Swickard Admits He Was a “Late Bloomer” (EXCLUSIVE)
When Josh Swickard joined the cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL as Detective Harrison Chase, fans swooned over the soap’s newest hunk, but they might be surprised to learn he wasn’t always cut out to be a soap stud! “I’m what you call a late bloomer,” he admitted to Soaps In Depth. “Maybe senior year, I grew up a little bit? I always had somewhat of a build, but I was lean and small. As I got older, I kind of filled out. And as I’m not 21 anymore, I realize I’ll just keep filling out if I don’t work out!”
He may have been just a hair over five feet tall when he got to high school, but by the time Swickard left, he was well on his way to being a successful model and actor. In fact, he had no trouble staying in shape because he was working as a SoulCycle instructor, a job he gave up when he was cast on GH. “Right before I got the show, I was teaching 15 classes a week and I rode every class,” the actor recalled. “So I couldn’t keep weight on. Then I stopped. I started filming, and a few months went buy, and I looked at my stomach and said, ‘Oh, hello!’
“And then wardrobe came to me and let me know I had a shirtless scene coming up,” Swickard added. “Oh dear! Now I’m trying to work out really hard to stay in shape! That’s why I started boxing.”
We’re sure that fellow boxing aficionado Maurice Benard (Sonny) will be more than happy to spar with his castmate to help keep Swickard in peak condition for any upcoming love scenes he may have scheduled. Oh wait, first Chase is going to need a girlfriend! Get on that, GH writers — this is one cop too hot to be single for this long!
