Réal Andrews Recovering From Cancer Surgery
Please join us in sending love and healing thoughts to daytime alum Réal Andrews, who is recovering from cancer surgery at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center. “So blessed,” he shared with a photo of himself in bed surrounded by his family, wife Michelle, son Marcus, and daughter Danika. The actor is best known to soap fans for playing Marcus Taggert on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but he has also played Agent Trumbull on ALL MY CHILDREN, Walker Daniels on AS THE WORLD TURNS, and Hal Michaels on DAYS OF OUR LIVES.
The actor also shared some additional photos of himself smiling from his hospital bed being visited by his pastor and his best friends. In addition, he sneaked a sweet pic of his loving wife having fallen asleep in the chair at his bedside.
Andrews was in good spirits when he entered the hospital for the surgery on Dec. 17, wearing a Santa Claus sweatsuit and hat. “Ready for the big day,” he declared confidently. “It’s go time.”
Andrews had turned his life around this year, entering alcoholics anonymous, being diagnosed and treated for bipolar disorder, and getting back in shape. The day before his surgery, the actor posted a selfie from the challenging Pico Stairs admitting it would be “our last workout for a while… 24 hours, 49 minutes ’til it is on. Let’s go.”
Just one week earlier, Andrews was at the doctor’s for routine tests to get ready for the procedure and reported he was in “the best shape ever. Test results don’t lie. I am ready for the fight.”
We will continue to keep you updated on Andrews’ condition as he posts more updates about his recovery, so keep checking back. And for more on your favorite daytime stars, keep reading Soaps In Depth magazine.
