GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Rebecca Herbst Shares the Secret to Maintaining Her Sanity as a Working Mom (EXCLUSIVE)
It can be hard for working moms to juggle a career and taking care of their family, but GENERAL HOSPITAL star Rebecca Herbst (Liz) knows that the secret to maintaining her sanity is leaving work at the office… or in this case, the GH studio! “My worlds don’t really cross that often,” she confided to Soaps In Depth. “I come do my job, and then I leave it here and go home and put on a completely different hat.”
And that particular hat would be mom to her three children with husband Michael Saucedo (ex-Juan): Ethan, 16, Ella, 14, and Emerson, 6. And while Liz may not have to deal with her kids on a regular basis on GH, Herbst’s are always waiting for her when she gets home! “Generally, it’s not my kids that make me go crazy — it’s the mess that can accumulate in a half a second,” she joked.

Thankfully, the actress has created systems to help try to keep her house in order. “Each of the kids has a designated step on the staircase and all of their stuff gets piled onto their step,” Herbst revealed. “As they go up and down, they empty the stairway. That’s one way I’ve tried to keep things somewhat clutter-free, so I’m not the only one cleaning up and taking stuff to their rooms.”
And when even that doesn’t help? “The other secret to not losing my noodle is, sometimes I just crawl in my bed and turn on the TV,” Herbst confided. “I tell the kids, “I’m taking a day off!’” Sounds like a plan to us!
