When GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Tamara Braun met her dog, Little, last June, the poor guy was a bit of a mess. “He was hit by a car and found on the side of the road near USC by a student after her class,” she revealed to Soaps In Depth of the cutie, who had broken his pelvis. “I got him three days after his accident. He couldn’t walk. He was highly medicated. He was scrawny and malnourished. I fell in love.”
After the L.A. Pet Clinic fixed him up, Braun signed on to foster the little guy back to health and almost a year later, she hasn’t let go. “I love just being with him, cuddling, getting kisses, playing fetch — he’s still learning that you have to bring the toy back!” she laughed. “I enjoy taking him on walks and watching him run around.”
Little even goes on errands and tools around town with his mom, who is an outspoken advocate for animals. “They don’t have a voice, so someone needs to be their voice,” Braun declared. “They are vulnerable and innocent creatures, like children, and we need to protect the innocent. We need to care for and give love to the vulnerable, innocent and voiceless.”
While there are countless admirable rescue organizations, Braun has an affinity for The REAL Bark, where she got her first foster dog. “They do absolutely incredible, selfless work with dogs,” she raves. “Jf, who runs it, and his team are angels on earth.”
Braun adds a reminder that little humans also sometimes need our help. “The Tanzanian Children’s Fund is an organization so dear to my heart,” she shares. “I sponsor a couple of children and have spent some of the best days of my life at their children’s village.” Wether talking humans or four- legged friends, Braun concludes, “Love them. Be kind. Be gentle.”
