Tamara Braun Previews Her New Play With GH Alum Ronnie Marmo (EXCLUSIVE)

Kim isn’t exactly the picture of mental stability right now on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but portrayer Tamara Braun will be playing a psychiatrist in the new play Death With Dignity… Comes in a Milkshake! Written by Sam Henry Kass and directed by GH alum Ronnie Marmo (ex-Ronnie), the play opens at Theater 68 in North Hollywood on Friday, Oct. 18 and runs through Saturday, Nov. 16 with a preview held on Thursday, Oct. 17. “It’s exciting!” Braun gushed to Soaps In Depth of the production.

Death With Dignity… Comes in a Milkshake centers around a therapy session that erupts into full-blown mental anarchy as a therapist must contend with an office commandeered by her patients and she questions her own training and qualifications as she attempts to reign in the chaos. Tackling politics, social issues, and show business, the play reveals the thin line that separates doctor and patient.

“Honestly, I had been thinking about doing a weekend of one-acts with soap actors,” Braun confided. “I had been talking about that with a few people to gauge interest. Then, out of the blue, I got a text from Ronnie saying he was directing this new play by Sam Henry Kass and kept thinking of me for a role. I saw it as a gift.”

Braun was thrilled to get back on stage and flex some different acting muscles than the ones she uses on GH, and has reveled in the challenges it has presented. “It’s been an interesting process becuase we didn’t have Ronnie for almost two weeks because he is putting his one-man show [I’m Not a Comedian… I’m Lenny Bruce] up in Chicago and had a retreat with his New York Theater group,” she revealed. “So it’s been a bit unusual. He Skyped into rehearsals a couple of times and always checked in with us. He is back now and extremely enthusiastic, energetic, and inspired by the piece and what the actors are finding in it.”

Death With Dignity… Comes in a Milkshake will have performances on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. with two Sunday matinees. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.theater68.com. And for more on your favorite GH stars, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
