When Brytni Sarpy left Port Charles to move to Genoa City, fans wondered what would happen to her character, and now the soap has announced that actress Paulina Bugembe is the new Valerie on GENERAL HOSPITAL. Although at this time, they have not revealed when her first air date will be.
Bugembe is not only an actress, but also a writer and director who hails from Milwaukee, WI. She has written and directed nine short films, and has been seen in primetime series like SCANDAL, THE GOOD PLACE, FOR THE PEOPLE, and LOVE. GH will be the actress’ daytime debut.
Valerie first appeared back in March of 2015, but over time, the character drifted onto the back burner, making only sporadic appearances. In March of 2019, actress Brytni Sarpy took a new role on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS playing Dr. Elena Dawson, and it wasn’t clear if the role would be recast or simply fade away completely.
But with Bugembe taking over as Valerie, it would seem that the soap still plans to explore her relationship with Kristina, and the cop could certainly offer some help to Chase in his quest to take down Shiloh and the Dawn of Day cult!
Stay tuned to see how Valerie’s story continues with Bugembe in the role, and for more GH casting news, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
