On his way back from a GENERAL HOSPITAL fan event in Raleigh, NC, William deVry (Julian) learned the tragic news that one of his beloved dogs, a little Chihuaha named Chalupa, had died. “Smallest little angel,” he tweeted, “biggest part of my life for 12 years. Hit by car six hours before i got home from East Coast. Having anxiety looking for me.”

Immediately, GH fans and castmates began expressing their condolences over social media, including Haley Pullos (Molly), Laura Wright (Carly), and Dominic Zamprogna (Dante).

Fellow animal lover Kristen Alderson (ex-Kiki) wrote, “So so awful! I can’t imagine your pain. Huge hugs to you. May your angel rest in peace.” And Nicolas Bechtel (Spencer) posted, “Will, I am so sorry for your loss. I owe you a hug when I see you.” And deVry’s on-screen sister, Maura West (Ava) called him to express her sympathies.
“Thanks again to everyone,” deVry tweeted in response to the outpouring of emotion. “You guys are great. It’s a tough loss. Family members. Read everything. Adds some comfort.” He also shared another photo of the beautiful little angel gone too soon.
The actor and girlfriend Rebecca Staab (Elizabeth, PORT CHARLES) are outspoken advocates for rescue dogs, and has multiple animals in his own home. “We have several that are our forever dogs,” deVry told Soaps In Depth. “We have a couple that we’re fostering so we’re always looking for good homes. We take our time finding good homes.”
And his heart is always open for more. “If I see a dog on the side of the road, I stop and get them,” deVry declared. “I raise money for foundations and charities and rescue groups.”
Our thoughts are with deVry during this difficult time.
