GH’s Michael Blake Kruse Lands a Primetime Gig!
Another daytime star is headed for primetime! Michael Blake Kruse — the GENERAL HOSPITAL star who plays the PCPD’s rookie cop, Rory — announced on social media that he has landed a role in the NBC drama CHICAGO P.D.!
“It’s great to be working in the Midwest again with the incredible cast and crew of CHICAGO P.D.,” the GH newcomer, who grew up in Iowa, wrote in his posts on Instagram and Twitter. “So much to love about this city and show.”
No stranger to primetime, Kruse worked on several series like GREY’S ANATOMY, CRIMINAL MINDS, STRANGE ANGEL, and EVERYTHING’S FINE before making his daytime debut on GH earlier this year. While he didn’t divulge any details about the character he’ll be playing when his CHICAGO P.D. episode airs, Kruse did share a behind-the-scenes shot of District 21’s police station.
Along with One Chicago sister shows CHICAGO FIRE and CHICAGO MED, the NBC drama is shot on location in the Illinois city, so Kruse has been stationed there this week while working on his exciting new gig. It’s not clear which episode Kruse will be appearing in, or how long his CHICAGO P.D. run will last. Since he’s a contract player with GH, this primetime appearance is likely just a guest spot. The soap tries to work with its actors on outside projects, like when James Patrick Stuart landed a lead role on Disney Channel’s VILLIANS OF VALLEY VIEW, and Valentin was off the canvas for a while. But sometimes scheduling and other factors just become too difficult, and a performer must leave the soap, which is what will happen with Kelly Thiebaud (Britt) now that she’s returned to ABC’s STATION 19. Since Kruse didn’t mention anything in his post about parting ways with GH, we’re hoping that the CHICAGO P.D. appearance will just be a bonus opportunity for the charming actor’s fans to see him on TV!
Season 10 of CHICAGO P.D. premieres on Wednesday, September 21, at 10 p.m. ET.
