OLTL Wins DGA Award

ONE LIFE TO LIVE may have been snubbed at the Daytime Emmys, but the soap picked up a Director’s Guild Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement In Daytime Serials. Director Jill Mitwell won for the episode “Between Heaven And Hell.” Mitwell has been nominated nine times, and has taken home the trophy four times.

“It’s certainly bittersweet to be standing up here for OLTL one last time,” Mitwell said in her acceptance speech. “Thank you to my colleagues for recognizing the work we did at the end of the show’s network run. Frank Valentini, thank you for giving me the opportunity and freedom to direct this episode. The entire OLTL company was working under very stressful circumstances with the loss of their livelihood looming ahead. Yet they gave their all to help tell a story that was compelling both emotionally and visually. I’m very proud to have been part of that team. Most of all, thank you to the Directors’ Guild of America for having my back over a 30-year directing career and for providing me with this fine pension! Thank you for this honor.”

Congratulations!
