Even the most schooled GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers may have heard the name Peter Harrell on today’s episode and thought, “Who?” If that was your reaction to the man from Felicia’s past, we’re here to fill you in!
Thirty years ago, Frisco came across a ring at a charity auction. Thinking it simply a piece of costume jewelry, he purchased it… only to have Felicia Jones (dressed as a boy, by the way!) try to steal it from beneath his mattress! Almost immediately, sparks flew between the pair. When she injured herself after attempting to flee with the purloined ring, he took her to General Hospital and, thanks to some lurking thugs, realized that the blonde beauty was in danger! Eventually, between bouts of bickering, Felicia revealed that she was an honest-to-gosh Princess, and that the ring was part of a collection. In fact, when paired with a scepter, the ring would reveal the location of the entire treasure trove!
So where, exactly, was the scepter? In the possession of Felicia’s ex-fiance, Peter Harrell! It also happened that former WSB big wig Sean Donely and his mistress, Cruz, were hot on the trail of the treasure, too. Turned out that not only was Sean a former WSB leader, he just happened to have an extensive knowledge of Aztec culture! Having been framed (by Peter) for a murder he didn’t commit, Luke was laying low at Sean’s hacienda while his good pal Robert Scorpio helped clear his name. Cruz eventually left to “care for her ailing mom”… but in reality, she was teaming up with Peter!
Eventually, Peter tricked Felicia into handing over the ring. For those keeping track, this meant the sceptor-bearing baddie was now in possession of everything he needed to claim the treasure! Peter and Donely managed to open the vault and find the treasure. Sean was all set to double-cross Peter. But in the resulting chase through the jungle, Peter fell to his death over a waterfall. Ever the sly fox, Sean made sure the hiding place was secure and acted like he’d never found anything. “Treasure?” he basically asked. “What treasure?”
Except, of course, this being Port Charles… well, who really thinks Peter died from the tumble? I’m gonna guess you’re new around these parts…
Before long, Peter showed up in Port Charles again, luring Felicia to an abandoned railroad car. Despite being in love with Frisco and having no interest in her ex, Felicia couldn’t resist going to his side after he promised that the treasure could be hers! Felicia called Tony to treat Peter, who revealed to his doc that Sean had the treasure. Unfortunately, before Tony could share this bit of news, he was shot in the head! As for Peter, he managed to escape, fleeing to Brazil!
