AMC Alum Ambyr Childers Seeks Restraining Order Against Her Ex-Husband
Co-parenting has not been easy for ALL MY CHILDREN alumna Ambyr Childers (Colby). The actress, who most recently starred as Candace on the Netflix series YOU, has filed a request with the Los Angeles County Superior Court for a domestic violence restraining order against her ex-husband, producer and director Randall Emmett.
Childers and Emmett, who were married from 2009-’17, share joint physical and legal custody of their two daughters, London 12, and Rylee, 8. According to the Los Angeles Times, which first reported the news, Childers stated in her request that she had a “legitimate fear” for her safety and well-being after discovering “threatening” correspondence between her ex-husband and his lawyer.
In her filing, Childers noted that she had emailed Emmett on Oct. 21 to let him know that she’d received a complaint from London’s school that the tween was continually late on the days that she was with her father. According to Childers, Emmett’s reply included copies of e-mails he had exchanged with his family law attorney, Ben Valencia.
In one of those e-mails, Valencia allegedly asked Emmett when he will “get some real money together so we can take this c— out once and for all. This is not good for your girls.” Minutes later, Emmett replied that he doesn’t “have real money for this and you know it.” He allegedly called Childers a “psycho” in another message.
Per her petition, Childers said she was frightened by the “finality and desperation” of Valencia’s email. According to E! News, Childers wrote in the court documents, “It is unclear to me if Randy intentionally sent me this email conversation to intimidate me, or if he inadvertently included it. But in either case, the threatening nature of the words cannot be ignored.”
The actress — who also claimed that Emmett was emotionally and verbally abusive during their marriage and put a tracking device on her car — has asked for sole legal and physical custody of their daughters. In addition to London and Rylee, Emmett also shares a 1-year-old daughter named Ocean with his ex-fiancée, VANDERPUMP RULES star Lala Kent. The former couple is currently locked in a custody battle over their toddler.
The temporary emergency order was denied by an L.A. County judge citing lack of proof, but a formal hearing to review Childers’ request for the restraining order will be held on November 14. We wish Childers well and hope that this delicate family matter is soon resolved.
