AMC Alum J.R. Martinez Is Expecting His Second Child!

Please join us in congratulating ALL MY CHILDREN alum J.R. Martinez (Brot), who is going to be a father again! The actor and his wife, Diana, are expecting their second child in August! “We’ve wanted this for a while, but God said, ‘Not yet,” he posted to Instagram. “We waited and waited and experienced pain along the way but we continued to have faith and trust that although our journey would look different, it would happen!

“But we never lost faith, and faith delivered,” Martinez continued. “We are grateful that God granted us the opportunity to bring a second child into the world. As we follow the ‘trust’ model we’ve also decided to be surprised with the gender!”

Like his former AMC castmate, Melissa Claire Egan (ex-Annie; now Chelsea, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS), Martinez was candid about their difficult journey to parenthood. “I know a few who may be reading this that are struggling on their own fertility journey,” he wrote. “Whether you are hoping for your first child or your third… my wish is that this post may bring you some hope instead of triggered pain. Stay strong, don’t lose hope, trust your journey. Your baby is waiting for you, too. The timing is never ours.”

Martinez and his wife are already proud parents to daughter Lauryn, though the eight-year-old was a little confused when they surprised her with the news via a storybook about babies. But once they explained she was going to be a big sister, she admitted she was ready for the adventure. “You’re gonna be an awesome big sister!” Martinez assured his little girl, kissing her on the forehead.

So be sure to check back at SoapsInDepth.com in August as we bring you the news of the birth of Martinez’s latest bundle of joy and we find out if Lauryn is going to be getting a baby brother or a baby sister!
