J.R. Martinez Hosts a Mini ALL MY CHILDREN Reunion!
Terry Black’s Barbecue hosted a little ALL MY CHILDREN reunion as three former castmates got together to enjoy some delicious dinner and catch up with each other!
“I love when people tell me they watched me on AMC because it was such a special time with a very special group of people,” declared J.R. Martinez, who played Brot on the much-missed ABC sudser. “It’s even better when you get the opportunity to run into old castmates/friends and catch up.”
Martinez, who celebrated his graduation from Fordham University last spring, was surprised to encounter former AMC co-star Trent Garrett (ex-Asher), and that meet-up led to them joining another former Pine Valley resident for a reunion!
“About two weeks ago at the airport, I ran into Trent and found out we were neighbors,” he revealed. “He told me that Jacob Young (J.R.) was coming to town, so of course we had to treat him to Texas barbecue. Was really good catching up and learning about everything they have going on.”
Garrett married actress Cassie Steele in 2018 and has an eight-year-old son, Luka. After his 2010-11 run on AMC, he starred as Bowie Quinn on ANDI MACK and appeared in episodes of series like NEW GIRL, HAWAII FIVE-0, ANIMAL KINGDOM, and CARNIVAL ROW.
Young married his wife, Christen, back in 2007, and the couple has three children together. Recently, the actor has appeared in TV movies like Christmas Made to Order, The Road Home for Christmas, and Fata Following. He has also appeared in episodes of primetime shows like HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES and THE WALKING DEAD.
In the comments of Martinez’s Instagram post, some more AMC co-stars shared the love. “Well this is the best!” enthused Alicia Minshew (Kendall). “Love to all three of you!” Melissa Claire Egan (Annie; now Chelsea, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) declared: “Great group right there!” and Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) added: “So sweet!”
Martinez also shared a funny story about his time on the soap. “When I joined AMC, I’d hear the stage manager call ‘J.R. to set,’ and I’d walk up,” he related. “Once I got there I realized they were talking about Jacob Young’s character J.R. Chandler. I would yell, ‘I’m the real J.R.’ Which the crew would respond with, ‘Not on this show!’”
