Mark Consuelos Lands an Exciting New Role!
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the ALL MY CHILDREN reboot, PINE VALLEY, but one of the soap town’s former residents has landed an exciting new role. Deadline is reporting that Mark Consuelos (Mateo) has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming HBO Max series THE GIRLS ON THE BUS!
The series, from writers Amy Chozick and Julie Plec centers around journalist Sadie McCarthy, played by SUPERGIRL’s Melissa Benoist. After romanticizing Tim Crouse’s book Boys on the Bus, Sadie scraps her life to cover the presidential election, bonding with three fellow female reporters played by Carla Gugino, Natasha Behnam, and Christina Elmore. Consuelos will be playing a Hollywood action star who becomes a politician and joins the presidential race after a Twitter poll gave him decent odds of getting votes.
Consuelos got his big break playing Mateo Santos on AMC back in 1995 and he stuck around until 2002, returning for the soap’s 40th anniversary in January 2010. He continued finding success in primetime with roles on series like MISSING, HOPE & FAITH, AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM, PITCH, and of course, playing the villainous Hiram Lodge on RIVERDALE. The actor could most recently be seen in season two of Hulu’s ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING playing the father of Selena Gomez’s character.
We’re sure AMC fans would much rather hear some good news about that primetime reboot of AMC that Consuelos and wife Kelly Ripa (Hayley) were working on with ABC, but in the meantime, knowing that we’ll still be able to see him on TV in another series will have to do!
