Daniel Goddard Announces He’s Leaving THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS
Sadly, Daniel Goddard has confirmed that he is leaving THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS where he has played Cane Ashby since 2007. “It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news that I will no longer be part of the cast of Y&R,” he reported on Instagram. “I’m as shocked and gutted as you are. I almost didn’t post but I felt that the most loyal and loving fans an actor could wish for deserved to know and watch the last story arc knowing the rich meaning behind it. I’m forever grateful for the 13 years I have been a part of the Y&R family, but sadly, it seems that without Neil and Lily, there is just no Cane.”
In 2011, Goddard was let go from the soap and Cane was killed off. However, viewer protests led Y&R to rehire the actor and reveal that the man who had been shot dead was actually Cane’s twin brother. The character had been at a bit of a loose end since Christel Khalil went off-contract with the soap in 2018, though.
Recently, Cane has been involved in a storyline where it appears that Katherine Chancellor’s real will actually left her fortune to him and not Devon. Will Cane take the money and run? There is no information as to when Goddard’s run will come to an end, so stay tuned to see how it wraps up, and for more Y&R casting news, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
