Miller Out At Y&R, Tom Back In!
Rumors have been circulating recently that Billy Miller (Billy) was embroiled in some contract negotiations with THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS that weren’t going particularly well. So it comes as no surprise that the soap has confirmed that the actor will be leaving the role that he’s played since 2008 and won him two Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2010 and 2013.
But what is a surprise is that David Tom, who played Billy from 1999-2002, is returning to reclaim the role! “Please join me in welcoming Daytime Emmy winner David Tom back to Y&R and CBS Daytime as Billy Abbott’s exciting storyline continues,” head of CBS Daytime Angelica McDaniel tweeted. “I respect Billy Miller’s decision to move on and wish him great success in his future endeavors.”
Tom earned a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2000 for playing Billy on Y&R And luckily, his sister, Heather Tom, is now playing THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL’s Katie, instead of her previous Y&R role of Victoria, Billy’s wife!
According to TV Guide’s Michael Logan, Miller will continue taping at Y&R until the end of the year, and will reportedly last air on Thursday, January 30. Tom will first air on Monday, February 3.
