Send Me An “Angel”
Frank Runyeon (Steve, AS THE WORLD TURNS) makes his THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS debut as a helpful character named Angel on Thursday, May 28 . The soap vet says he received an invitation to play the spiritual force who interacts with Nikki and Victor from Y&R’s executive producer/headwriter, Charles Pratt, Jr., who was his former boss on SANTA BARBARA, where he played Michael.
“It’s always fun to come in and do this stuff,” Runyeon tells Soaps In Depth. “Chuck comes up with something and says ‘How am I going to get anyone to do this? Then he goes, ‘Oh, I bet Frank can do this!’ It’s always fun.”
Ironically, Runyeon was given the dressing room belonging to his former ATWT co-star Christian Jules LeBlanc (Michael; Kirk, ATWT) during his brief visit to Genoa City. “I knew Eric Braeden (Victor) from the Daytime Emmys, and I knew Peter Bergman (Jack) back in New York from ALL MY CHILDREN [where he played Cliff].”
In addition to touring across the country in religious shows, Runyeon is writing his autobiography that has the working title Escape From Hollywood: An Actor’s Journey to Faith. “It’s the story of my life,” he says. To learn more about Runyeon’s work, check out his Web site www.frankrunyeon.com.
