Will Ravi Return to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS? — Abhi Sinha Speaks Out
It’s been quite a while since viewers have seen Abhi Sinha as Ravi Shapur on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, and many have asked the actor on social media whether he would be returning to the soap in the future. “I want to thank every one of my fans who for months have been asking about Ravi’s return to Y&R,” he admitted on Instagram. “Honestly, I don’t know the answer.
“I was privileged to work with some amazing soap vets like Eileen Davidson (Ashley), Kristoff St. John (Neil), Peter Bergman (Jack), Gina Tognoni (Phyllis), Daniel Hall (ex-Scott), Ryan Ashton (ex-Zack), Christian LeBlanc (Michael), Kate Linder (Esther), and the legendary Eric Braeden (Victor),” he added. “I’ve been fortunate to make some lifelong friendships.”
The world of daytime is a constantly-shifting one as characters and storylines move from the back burner to the front and actors come and go. And while Ravi’s brief relationship with Ashley Abbott made Sinha a fan-favorite, that romance soon fizzled out leaving the computer tech without a storyline. “While I have been fortunate enough to not be killed or written off,” he allowed, “the future is uncertain.”
However, as an actor who has been working for more than a decade, he’s begun to accept that this is all a part of the business and not something to be taken personally. “Things like this used to derail me,” Sinha confessed. “I would get so upset about not booking work, especially after getting to the last stages of auditions, producer sessions, and screen tests. I didn’t realize how trivial those problems are in the grand scheme of things. The recent loss of my [dogs] Boba Fett and Bellatrix in such a short time has put a lot of things into perspective.
“I love acting and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world,” he added. “But I realize now that I won’t let rejection or second-guessing myself define or upset me anymore. Those things don’t control my happiness or who I am. The things that do are my family. My mother and father, my brother and sister, my dogs, Max and Rooney, my friends, and last but certainly not least, Helen, who has been a rock and true partner in every sense of the word. I’ve recently found a lot of happiness in nature. The Earth is so much bigger than one person’s problems. I suppose this epiphany is called life, learning, and growth.”
Well said. And while we, like many Y&R fans, would love to see Ravi back on screen again, we’ll simply all just have to keep an eye out for Sinha in whatever future projects he does. And of course, we’ll be sure to inform you about them when they are announced!
