Angelica McDaniel Opens up About Her Exit From CBS Daytime

Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, Daytime Programs at CBS Entertainment is leaving her position at the network due to restructuring. CBS is reportedly folding the daytime team into the Current Programming department led by Amy Reisenbach. “In my nine years at CBS I’ve had some incredible highlights,” McDaniel shared on Instagram. “We launched a new show which is celebrating its 10th season, created an immersive museum exhibit celebrating iconic daytime shows, gathered more than 100 talent from the past and present to commemorate 30 years of television in a historic photo, developed an innovative show for young people celebrating female superstars in STEM to launch in a few weeks, traveled America’s favorite game show around the country, celebrated 116 Emmy wins and the many dances they spawned at after-parties, and friendships that I’ll always cherish. It’s time for me to move on to new innovative territory, make even bigger successes, and always more great memories.”

“Angelica McDaniel championed our daytime series line up with creativity, passion and energy and broke new ground by helping launch the Network’s first daytime talk show in years while respecting the long history and tradition of the dramas and game shows,” Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment, said in a statement to Deadline.” We appreciate her many contributions and wish her well on her next endeavors.”

Michele Val Jean, writer for THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, tweeted: “Sorry about this. She’s a supporter of the genre. I wish her well.”

McDaniel joined CBS in August of 2010, and through a series of positions at the network, oversaw the daytime lineup, including top-rated daytime dramas THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and B&B. Stay tuned to see if this behind-the-scenes restructuring results in any on-screen changes to the two remaining CBS soaps.
