B&B’s Karen “Steals” Brooke’s Dad!

Brooke has, ahem, shall we say, “stolen” many men on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL over the years. Well, now, turnabout is fair play! THE FOSTERS executive producer Joanna Johnson, who recurs as Karen on the CBS sudser, has snagged Patrick Duffy (ex-Stephen) to play Robert Quinn, Sr., the father of Callie’s biological pop, Robert (played by Kerr Smith, Ryder, AS THE WORLD TURNS) in the drama’s season finale.

“I was mesmerized by Patrick’s work on B&B,” FOSTERS executive producer Johnson tells Soaps In Depth. “He gave this beautiful speech to Katie and did it in one take. He was so good I forgot I was in the scene! When this part came up, I wrote him an E-mail and begged him to come on to the show.”

Watch for Robert and Callie to see each other in a new light after Robert’s dad visits. “We’ve alluded to the dynamic that Robert’s father had something to do with him leaving Callie’s mother,” Johnson says. Might the former DALLAS star return for more shows when THE FOSTERS returns for its third season? “We definitely want to bring him back,” the exec adds.

The episode in which Duffy appears is titled “The End Of The Beginning,” and was written by Johnson and fellow executive producers Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige. It airs tonight, March 23, at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
