During a football game in 1989, Mullins was paralyzed when making a hit on running back Gaines, and during his recovery, the two men ultimately became close friends. Deadline is reporting that Gaines’ real-life son, Bradford Gaines Jr., will be co-starring in the film. It’s Time comes from the same creative team that produced and directed the documentary about the story that aired on the SEC Network.
“My life has already changed in so many ways since picking up this script,” Fodé confessed. “Spending time with Brad Gaines, understanding how tragedy both his and Chucky’s lives. Most importantly, how a deep friendship and love was created and never lost.”
It sounds like a powerful story, and one we can’t wait to see!
