Ehrich Reacts To Third Emmy Nod In A Row!

Tags:

Max Ehrich (Fen, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) was in North Carolina shooting the primetime series UNDER THE DOME when the Daytime Emmy nominations were announced, so he was checking Twitter to see how Y&R fared in this year’s contest! And when he was nominated for Outstanding Younger Actor, his DOME co-stars Mackenzie Lintz and Grace Victoria Cox were eager to share the good news!

“They went to set and must have told everyone,” he recalls, “because when I came to set, they told the director Peter Weller, who is an Oscar nominee, it was a cool, surreal experience because he pulled me out and was like, ‘Congratulations’ and made a big announcement of it. It was very cool.”

This is the third year in a row that Ehrich has been nominated in this category, but he insists you never get used to it. “Because there is such a high caliber that you are up against,” he says. “I honestly had no idea what to expect. I already feel blessed to be doing what I love for a living, but to be recognized by my peers, that’s what puts me on cloud nine.”

Ehrich earned the nomination for the episode where Fen learned that his father, Michael, has cancer. “I did that scene because I know a lot of people, including myself, who have lost loved ones to cancer, and I thought it had a strong impact,” he explains. “I felt really emotionally connected to those scenes, and finding out. Christian [Jules LeBlanc, Michael], Tracey [E. Bregman, Lauren] and Greg [Rikaart, Kevin] were all in those scenes, and everybody was outstanding. I feel like I owe it to them, because I was just reacting off of them.”

And while LeBlanc is in the running for Lead Actor this year, Ehrich is disappointed Bregman didn’t receive a nomination of her own. “I’m truly saddened by that,” he declares, “because she’s phenomenal as an actress and the scenes that she’s had, they were amazing. She has my vote!”
