EXCLUSIVE — THE PRICE IS RIGHT Model to Appear on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS
THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Melissa Ordway (Abby) has been known to slip across the hall to guest model on THE PRICE IS RIGHT — and now, the game show has returned the favor!
One of the show’s top models, Gwendolyn Osborne-Smith, has been confirmed to play Billy and Victoria’s wedding planner, Evelyn!
“The character is more English than I am — quite proper,” the British transplant tells Soaps In Depth exclusively. “But she’s fun and upbeat as well. She’s ready for anything!”
The crossover continues CBS’ established tradition of creating synergy within its daytime line-up by swapping its on-air talent. “I have been an actress for many years, and have been focusing on working at THE PRICE IS RIGHT, being a mom, and hosting,” says Osborne-Smith. “But Y&R was in need of someone with a British accent who was a wedding planner, and I found myself suddenly on the set of Y&R!”
This isn’t the first time that Osborne-Smith has been on a daytime soap. “I was working [at THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL] as a model in a scene when I heard about the job at THE PRICE IS RIGHT,” shares the beauty. “I came over and auditioned. That was 11 years ago, and I’ve been here ever since!”
While the model-turned-actress is scheduled to appear Monday, Feb. 29, could we see more of her character? After all, given the number of nuptials in Genoa City, wedding planners might be in high demand! For her part, Osborne-Smith says that she’d be open to a return engagement. “I would love it! I’ve always been a creative person. I’ve been to performing arts school when I was very young, so it all comes very naturally to me. I’m ready to jump in and play the character at any point. If they want me to come over, all they have to do is let me know!”
