Veteran actress Marj Dusay died on Jan. 28 at the age of 83. Although well-known for her guest turns on primetime series like STAR TREK and THE FACTS OF LIFE, Dusay is beloved by daytime fans for her various roles on multiple soap operas.

The daytime vet made her soap debut in 1983 replacing Carolyn Jones as Myrna Clegg on CAPITOL. After that show went off the air in 1987, Dusay joined NBC sudser SANTA BARBARA as a recast of Pamela Capwell. In 1993, she filled in for Louise Sorel as Vivian Alamain on DAYS OF OUR LIVES before joining the cast of long-running CBS serial GUIDING LIGHT as the new Alexandra Spaulding.

In 1999, Dusay finally originated a soap character of her own when she debuted as the villainous Vanessa Bennett on ALL MY CHILDREN. After Vanessa was killed off in 2002, the actress returned to CBS to take back the role of Alexandra Spaulding on GL where she remained until the soap’s cancellation in 2009.
