Peter Bergman Signs a New Contract With THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS!

Tags:

Jack Abbott isn’t going anywhere — actor Peter Bergman has just signed a new contract with THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS! Deadline is reporting that he inked a new deal to keep him in Genoa City for the next five years! Three-year contracts are the standard, so this indicates CBS’ desire to retain one of the soap’s most popular vets as well as Bergman’s desire to continue playing the role.

Bergman’s daytime career kicked off back in 1979 when he joined the cast of ABC sudser ALL MY CHILDREN as Cliff Warner, a role he played until 1989, when he moved over to CBS to take over the role of Jack Abbott on Y&R from Terry Lester. During this time, Bergman has received an incredible 23 Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the Lead Actor category, taking home the gold three times over the years.

Jack has remained a prominent figure on Y&R and his recent storylines have revisited his past with his son Keemo by introducing his granddaughter, Allie, as well as his tumultuous relationship with Phyllis that has now been complicated by Diane’s return from the “dead.”

And now fans can look forward to even more dramatic storylines and fantastic performances to come for Bergman with this new contract. While Y&R has only technically been renewed through 2024 at this point, the fact that Bergman’s deal takes him into 2027 bodes well for the future of the soap!
