Mia St. John Opens up One Month After Kristoff St. John’s Death

Just over a month after the untimely passing of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Kristoff St. John (Neil), the actor’s ex-wife, Mia St. John, sat down with EXTRA to share an update on how she’s holding up since his death. “You know, I have okay days and then I’ll have really bad days,” she confessed. “I’m just waiting to get to the point where I’m having good days. And it’s difficult because it’s still early.”

Mia also confessed that Kristoff had struggled a great deal since the 2014 death of their son, Julian, during his stay in a mental health facility. “He was just so tortured since our son passed,” she revealed. “He felt so much guilt. He just felt like he had failed his son.”

Because of everything that has happened to her family, Mia remains an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness and reforms in mental health facilities. “I am determined to keep talking about mental illness,” she declared. “The importance of our mental health and how we have to change things. We need reform. And I’m not gonna stop.”

Mia also appreciates the outpouring of love and support from Kristoff’s fans during this difficult time. “I ended up in the hospital after Kristoff passed,” she reported. “With the outpouring of support, I just felt like, ‘Okay, I can do this.’” Tears filling her eyes, Mia continued: “I know that… they’re on the other side, rooting for me, and counting on me to do this.”

Our thoughts are with Mia and all of Kristoff’s friends and loved ones at this time. For more Y&R news, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
