Victoria Rowell Speaks Out!

Tags:

Soaps In Depth was present this morning when former THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla) held a press conference in New York City to discuss her lawsuit against CBS and Sony.

“This is a profound moment for me,” the actress shared, “as an African-American woman who wishes to continue to live the American dream. I’ve always advocated for myself, and was taught to do so after 18 years in foster care. And I advocate for others, and was taught to do so. So this is not about me. This is about myself and the many, many other African-Americans who have been denied the right to perform in front of and behind the camera. Specifically on Y&R.”

In her suit, Rowell claims that CBS and Sony have refused to rehire her in retaliation for her being outspoken about the lack of diversity in the daytime community, and particularly on her former show, the top-rated daytime drama. “It is an incestuous industry, and it has retaliated against me,” the actress told In Depth at this morning’s conference.

We will have more on Rowell’s case in an upcoming issue. In the meantime, we want to hear your thoughts on her claim, so please comment below!
