Y&R Names New Headwriters

We reported on the headwriting changeover at THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS back in August, but now the soap has officially confirmed its new headwriting team (and our predictions!). Shelly Altman has been promoted to headwriter, and Jean Passanante has been named headwriter. In addition, Tracey Thomson has been promoted to co-headwriter.

“Shelly has been an important part of the Y&R writing team since joining the show last year and Jean brings with her a wealth of daytime writing experience. We are excited to have these two talented daytime veterans leading our writing team at ‘Y&R,” said Steve Kent, senior executive vice president US programming at Sony Pictures Television. “We are also thrilled to have Tracey take on a new role and we look forward to her creative input to the show.”

Altman has been a writer for Y&R since 2012, previously working on ANOTHER WORLD, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and GENERAL HOSPITAL. Passanante’s experience in daytime includes AW, ALL MY CHILDREN, AS THE WORLD TURNS, OLTL and GH. Thomson has also written for GH and AMC.
