Soap Grads Alison Sweeney and Lacey Chabert Team Up For a New Hallmark Trilogy!

Tags:

You can always count on Hallmark Channel to provide feel-good movies featuring some familiar faces from their staple of performers. And the cable network recently announced that its latest project will feature three of Hallmark’s reigning queens: Soap alumnae Lacey Chabert (Bianca, ALL MY CHILDREN) and Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) have joined Autumn Reeser to star in The Wedding Veil trilogy!

As first reported by Good Housekeeping, the movies will follow three college pals who have since scattered across the country but meet up each year for a girls’ trip. During one of their annual vacations, the ladies discover an enchanted antique wedding veil that will wind up changing each of their lives.

WHEN CALLS THE HEART star Kevin McGarry (who plays Nathan in the network’s popular period drama) will also appear in the movies, although Hallmark has yet to announce any details about his character. But if we know anything about Hallmark Channel movies — and we do! — it’s a safe bet that the Hearties hunk will be the love interest for one of the three leading ladies! Perhaps it will be Chabert’s character, if a behind-the-scenes shot she shared on Instagram is any indication! “Having so much fun filming The Wedding Veil with Kevin for Hallmark Channel,” she wrote.

In addition to being one of the movies’ stars, Chabert will have double duty in the trilogy as executive producer. “This project is, quite literally, a dream come true for me and one that I have been deeply invested in,” the AMC alum told Good Housekeeping. “Both Alison and Autumn are incredibly talented, smart, and wonderful women and actors. I’m thrilled to be able to finally get to work with them and tell this very special story!”

Production on the first movie is currently underway, and the network announced that it will debut next year. “The Wedding Veil trilogy will celebrate strong female friendships, true love, and adventure along the way!” tweeted the official Hallmark account. The series is loosely inspired by the book Long, Tall Texan by Lori Wilde, which was previously published under the title There Goes The Bride: Wedding Veil Wishes Book 1 by Lori Wilde. Considering how different the book’s description is in comparison to the movie — in the book, a Texas socialite having second thoughts about her wedding accidentally kidnaps the wrong guy for a night of passion — we can’t wait to see what Chabert, Sweeney, and Reeser bring to the film!
