Alison Sweeney Previews Her Romantic New Holiday Movie

We still haven’t even celebrated Thanksgiving but the Christmas movies are already in full swing! And DAYS OF OUR LIVESAlison Sweeney (ex-Sami) is starring in Open by Christmas, a romantic new holiday flick premiering Friday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel! “Tune in Friday night to get into the holiday spirit with us!” she shared on Instagram.

Part of Hallmark’s annual “Countdown to Christmas” event, Open by Christmas stars Sweeney as Nicky, a woman who discovers a card given to her back in high school that she never knew existed. Realizing that she had a secret admirer, Nicky enlists the support of her best friend Simone (played by SMALLVILLE’s Erica Durance) to go on a quest to locate the anonymous author. Meanwhile, Simone is dealing with her own issues, particularly raising a teenaged son as a single mom, and both women help each other find the answers they need. The cast also includes Brennan Elliott and Michael Karl Richards.

“The catch for this story was the idea of this Christmas card that my character, Nicky, finds in her old school books,” Sweeney explained in a behind-the-scenes video. “When she opens it, it’s unsigned, but it is a lovely note thanking her for being a good person. And so there is a fun mystery in the movie of her trying to figure out who wrote her that card!

“It is a beautiful Christmas story,” she added. “It’s just got some surprises and twists and turns along the way. I love this movie!”
